MEEDEN Soft Oil Pastels Set

I’ve recently started drawing on my canvas with oil pastels and then completing in oil paint. WOW, so much better than charcoal which wipes off too easy, or gets mixed into the light colored paint. Not only that, but these oil pastels are rich with pigment, not like some of the cheaper ones out there. This is a set of 72 with innumerable colors that can be made with blending. They are so functional and easy to just lay on the surface that I think I may even try to do an entire artwork in just the pastels.

The best for the price by far! Super creamy and blendable. They allow you to layer successfully. All in all, they are excellent in quality!

I'm new to oil pastels, I think this product is perfect for beginners like me who likes to experiment. I did color chart to see the colors and how it feels. I was very surprised by its silky texture. I felt like I'm using a butter. I'm not used to color with this crayon shape materials, I might need some practice to get used to. It's a bit mess after use, but it's more like a fun mess and easy to clean. I'm glad I tried this product. It's different than pencils and markers, definitely attractive to create something different. I found the colors are very pretty and the price is good too.

So my piece isn’t completely done yet. But I’ve been using these Meeden oil pastels that my boyfriend bought me. They are so amazing. They are so smooth and easy to blend. The pastels have many color options, all rich in pigment and the price is great. I really recommend purchasing. I’ve been using baby oil and a paint brush to blend the pastels. It’s my first time doing so, but I will definitely use this technique again. A little hard to dry, I used baby oil because I saw it on a video as an alternative to other solvents (I didn’t have anything else). I’m going to spray a thin layer of sealer now, before adding more layers. I’m definitely going to do a series of flower art with these awesome pastels. I love them so much.

I bought meeden oil pastels because they were compared to sennelier oil pastels giving meeden 9.8 out of 10. Meeden oil pastels are amazing they are butter and blending is so easy. I have other oil pastels that have high ratings and they are junk compared to these. This is a quality product you can't go wrong with these and the price is shockingly low for what you get

Photo shows the pastels arranged in color families, so you can get a better idea of the real range of hues and values. Clear/primary reds/magentas are minimal, but otherwise the color selection is terrific, and saturated, even in the more muted/earthy hues.
Texture is silky and crumble-free. Blending is easy, as is layering.
Some reviewers have described these as “all opaque.” I disagree. I have swatched them all, and found them to be transparent to translucent, even with several layers on the paper. That’s fine with me, as I’m accustomed to working with transparent watercolors. I’d rather have clean, clear colors than chalky ones.
Don’t expect the heavily built boxes and thick foam padding of luxury brands like Caran d’Ache. Packaging here is simply adequate, and all of the pastels arrived intact.
My first impression is that these are excellent quality oil pastels for an amazing, accessible price. Highly recommend!!

First impressions: Nice large collection of colors. The sticks of oil pastel are buttery soft and easy to use with each having a paper tube allowing you to pick them up without soiling your fingers.

Installation/setup: Use to create art.

Final thoughts: The pastels are wonderful, easy to blend and easy to use. The colors are strong and the variety is good. I like the way the pastel lays down on the paper and I use silicone blenders to mix the colors I wish. The pastels can be laid over each other to create new colors. I do use latex gloves to avoid getting the colors all over my hands and clothes. I like them and I’m glad I got them.

This pack of oil pastels has a great variety of colors, and the box it comes in has a tray that's great for storage. Included is a nice chart where you can mark the different colors so you can see them at a glance, which is great. I'm very pleased with this and look forward to experimenting with the oil pastels!

The colour range in the 72 box is amazing. I'm a novice at working with pastels and whilst I have found this medium a little hard to work with, it is not the product itself. They blend and overlap nicely creating a vibrant result. Care needs to be taken to avoid too much pressure as they snap quite easily. Overall, very happy with theses.

I have been interesting expanding my artist activities and these oil pastels appeared to be a good option. They aren’t the cheapest nor the most expensive set available. They are in the middle of the price range of what I saw and for the range of color options this set comes with, actually appear to be a set with great potential. It came well packaged and I like the fact they were also wrapped as well to aid in not overly saturating one’s fingers while handling and holding the different colors.

Oil pastels come in ranges of hardness and softness, the harder ones are a bit more difficult to blend but you can get some details and a crisper edge when you want one. Softer ones blend with your finger easier and allow for impasto techniques but you can't really get crisp edges or do details at all. These are soft and hand a bit like Sennelier. The good points- The price is excellent. The sticks are well pigmented, there is no excess of wax or crumbs. The 72 color range has lots of useful colors and these are nicely saturated. As for negatives, the color numbering system is odd. I would like some color designation on the paper other than a color number - -And the color numbers are in no discernible order either! Moreover, the color number is near the top of the removable paper so pretty soon, when you inevitably remove that paper, you have no idea what color you had, so complete that that color chart they give you! The trays are snug but oddly they make it hard to retrieve the pastels without grabbing them by the exposed edges, so your fingers get messy. I would say this excellent value for money but only if you like soft oil pastels and impasto techniques and prefer soft edged motifs.

Love working with these! I’ve worked with soft pastels for years, but these aren’t messy and fragile like soft pastels. Going to use these in the future.

Wow I love these! They are so creamy and the colors are wonderful. I wish more than one white was included in the 72-count box. But other than that, two big thumbs up!
